My Revenge Story: A Pesky Neighbor Meets Her Match

Years ago, I lived in a condo and had a pesky neighbor, Edna. She was an erstwhile fart who hated animals. My hubby and I had no thought. While nosotros blissfully kept a bird feeder, old Icy Veins stewed in her condo. She hated u.s.a. for attracting the tweeting vermin and those horrible squirrels and chipmunks, too.

And then in that location was my orangish true cat, Oscar, who preferred to sit on Edna's walkway just to spite her. Cats are smart that way! Wouldn't it take been easier just to talk to united states of america?

Instead, Edna called in the Powers That Exist. As my married man and I watched television 1 evening, the entire Board of the Condo Owners Association toured the grounds every bit Edna pointed with her gnarled easily at our bird feeder so our orange true cat in the window.

This lady is not my former neighbor, Edna, you get the idea. Edna must have watched that bird feeder and my orange cat many times from her window.

This lady is non my former neighbor, Edna, y'all get the thought. Edna must have watched that bird feeder and my orangish cat many times from her window.

Hell Rained Downward on Edna With Junk Mail

Afterward much ado, nosotros kept both the bird feeder and the true cat (and added another cat). Nosotros'd be damned if we were going to move considering of pesky Edna. But her complaints were a call to action. Edna was hurtin' for some payback.

The heavens shortly opened upwards on that old woman with junk mail and telemarketing. I signed her up for every special offer, sweepstakes, and magazine I could get my hands on. (Yeah, Edna, it was ME! Bahahaha!)

Old Icy Veins received solicitations for credit card offers, timeshare vacations, and postal service order sex toys. Edna joined a panty hose lodge and got her name, address, and phone number added to every list I could notice. Her mailbox was always jam-packed with exciting offers to keep her attention occupied.

Score settled.

Shyron E Shenko from Texas on January 10, 2016:

Wow, I love your revenge on Edna. I think I would have killed her with kindness, maybe bought her a pet rat for her altogether.

I did non see the vocal "Bird of Paradise" in your list.

One fine day equally I was a-walkin' downwards the street

Spied a beggar human being with rags upon his anxiety

Took a penny from my pocket

In his tin loving cup I did drop it

I heard him say as I made my retreat

"May the bird of paradise fly upwards your nose"

"May an elephant caress y'all with his toes"

"May your married woman exist plagued with runners in her hose"

"May the bird of paradise wing up your nose"

I really love this.

Beloved that Beyonce tune. And I tin't think of Nancy Sinatra'southward "Boots Were Fabricated for Walkin'" without thinking of the beginning Austin Powers motion picture (with the fembots).

Okay, here'south my entry to the listing: En Vogue "My Lovin'/You're Never Gonna Get It."

Happy Weekend!

FlourishAnyway (writer) from United states on December 08, 2015:

Nell - Payback can be a b*itch. People do accept a manner of getting what they take coming to them. Information technology tin can be frustrating when karma seems to be working slowly, nevertheless. Thank you for stopping past and for telling your friend'southward story.

FlourishAnyway (author) from USA on December 08, 2015:

Savvy - In that location are some people you just don't mess with, and when it comes to me and my cat ... well, I'm in that group. She caused me unnecessary trouble, and the lady got what was coming to her in a fun way. No impairment, no foul.

Yves on December 08, 2015:

Ha! What fun! Actually, I'one thousand horrible at vengeance. I'k the blazon who might say, "Well, alright for you then," or "You're not the boss of me," like an 8-yr onetime. Well, Ok, I exaggerate, but usually, I just motility on and feel pitiful for people who don't autumn in love with me. Ha!

And then, that's why I similar CeeLo's "Forget You." (Information technology'due south kind of happy sounding) Like my mom always used to say, "It'southward their loss," and I've always believed it. Lol.

BTW, what a bad girl you were to get back at Edna that way. Toy dolls, indeed! No doubt, that kept her wondering....

Nell Rose from England on December 07, 2015:

My friends husband was having an affair, she threw him out, he was sooo smug, till he realised the reason why she threw him out was the fact that she so moved in her swain who she had been seeing for three years! Hi Flourish,

Y'all e'er have the best of the best playlists! Wow, looks like Taylor has cornered the market on the revenge songs. However, Miranda don't play!

Thanks for throwing in an oldie, but a goodie there with "These boots are made for walkin'" Hahaha At present, that is a blast from the by.

This serial is always such a hoot to read and enjoy, especially with your added wit.

Blessings always

FlourishAnyway (author) from United states on November 30, 2015:

Nadine - Acting like they are dead to y'all is certaintly one manner to get your point across. Talking does not always help if people aren't solution focused and committed to preserving the human relationship. In that location is a reason why there are and then many songs on the topic.

Nadine May from Cape Town, Western Cape, Due south Africa on Nov 30, 2015:

You practise dearest your music. (When someone Really crosses you and talking doesn't seem to work, what is your virtually typical response?) I could not enter the poll, but my reaction would be, totally ignoring that person, trying not to react.

FlourishAnyway (author) from USA on November 29, 2015:

FlourishAnyway (writer) from U.s. on Nov 28, 2015:

Sha - Fifty-fifty though it was years ago, I nonetheless get the giggles thinking about how her mailbox was ofttimes crammed FULL of special offers thank you to all the sign ups I had done on erstwhile Edna aka Icy Veins' behalf. How could a person non want someone to feed robins and cardinals in frozen Ohio? The Adam and Eve catalog was a real hoot.

Y'all are right nearly Miranda Lambert. I've been thinking she's not the kind of lady you wanna cross. She and Taylor Swift could've made up an entire listing by themselves. Somehow I think Miranda may take been more than l percent responsible for what transpired, and so information technology may have taken some of the revenge out of if her middle ... for now. i do wonder what his first wife thinks about the whole thing. Miranda was his 2nd, I think.

Martie Coetser from South Africa on November 28, 2015:

This is a list I merely have to save. It contains some of my favourite songs. Cheers, Flourish :)

Shauna L Bowling from Central Florida on November 28, 2015:

Awesome hub, Flourish! This is one of the all-time in this series. I dear how yous paid back old Icy Veins. I can just see her face when she opens advertisements for sexual practice toys. What a hoot! Payback'due south a bitch (in heels).

Honey the Miranda songs. I wonder if Blake has any worries about the revenge of the woman he scorned. I sure wouldn't want to piss her off!

FlourishAnyway (writer) from USA on Nov 28, 2015:

Genna - And then glad you lot enjoyed this. It was a lot of fun to put together. I hope you've had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!

Genna East from Massachusetts, USA on November 28, 2015:

Wow -- this list is remarkable. 1 of my favs has always been Carly Simon'south "You're And so Vain..." And people did recollect it was about Mick Jagger; just the young tin can cavalier Warren Beatty left more than one or two famous broken hearts behind in the wake of his bachelorhood. Thanks for this enjoyable hub. I'thousand nevertheless listening to the music. :-)

FlourishAnyway (writer) from USA on November 28, 2015:

FlourishAnyway (writer) from USA on November 24, 2015:

Bill - She's got a lot of trust problems but information technology doesn't seem to bother the famous guys she dates. Harry Styles knew what he was getting himself into when he started dating her. If yous notice in 1 Management's song "Perfect" (which is allegedly about her) there'due south a line that says, "And if you lot're looking for someone to write your breakup songs near, Baby, I'm perfect." Sooner or later, she'll either settle downwardly with one or run out of of famous guys to date. Take a Happy Thanksgiving!

FlourishAnyway (author) from United states on November 24, 2015:

Larry - Thanks for visiting. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!

Bill De Giulio from Massachusetts on Nov 24, 2015:

John Hansen from Gondwana Land on November 24, 2015:

In regard to Nancy Sinatra. She ha some other hit apart from "These Boots are Fabricated for Walkin". Take you heard of "Bang Bang?" It seems one of the nearly popular songs for contestants on the reality singing contests like "the Voice" and "... Idol" shows.

FlourishAnyway (author) from United states on Nov 24, 2015:

Carb Diva - That Warren Beatty! I bet he thought the song was about him, didn't he, didn't he? I savour assembling these vocal lists because they prove how prevalent some themes are in our culture. There are some artists who completely boss the theme, too! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! I would dear to meet what's existence served at your table.

FlourishAnyway (author) from USA on November 24, 2015:

Reynold Jay - I retrieve Nancy Sinatra was more or less a one-hit wonder. Her version was then much better than Jessica Simpson's! Thank you for stopping by. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Reynold Jay from Saginaw, Michigan on November 24, 2015:

Yep--Edna is not a great looking gal at all. Mean ole gal.

FlourishAnyway (author) from USA on Nov 24, 2015:

Bill - I miss those Dixie Chicks. One cantankerous comment about so-President George W. and they slid from super stardom to being featured on Groupon coupons (that's where I saw them earlier today). That Earl Has To Dice vocal was a hoot though. Happy Thanksgiving to you, also!

FlourishAnyway (writer) from Us on November 24, 2015:

Jodah - Betwixt Taylor Swift and Miranda Lambert, I had half my list. I beloved those gals. Glad you liked my payback to practiced ole Edna. Some people need mental stimulation to occupy them so they'll finish lament.

Linda Lum from Washington State, USA on November 24, 2015:

Flourish - I always Beloved these compilations by you. Personal favorite is Adele'south Rolling in the Deep. And coincidently I heard just last calendar week that Carly Simon has revealed the inspiration for her "You're So Vain." Information technology was Warren Beatty. Wow, imagine being such a negative part of a person's life that they write a whole song about you.

Reynold Jay from Saginaw, Michigan on Nov 24, 2015:

This is quite a list. I see Nancy Sinatra practise remember the Boots are made for Walking being such a hitting and then I wonder what ever happened to her? Never heard much afterward that.

Bill Kingdom of the netherlands from Olympia, WA on November 24, 2015:

I was wondering if the Dixie Chicks would make the listing....none is more than breathy than that song....he has to dice!!!!! LOL

My other observation is I think Taylor Swift has relationship issues. :)
